Australia releases Fashion Rules
Lisa Cade and Arthur Artinian of Blake Dawson report on the recently released Fashion Rules guidebook which discusses how stakeholders in the fashion industry need to carefully consider theirIP protection strategy prior to the launch of their products. The purpose of Fashion Rules is to increase awareness of intellectual property rights in the clothing and fashion design industry to ensure that stakeholders in the industry are better equipped to consider protection for their clothing designs and the IP assets associated with their designs such as brands, distinctive fabric patterns and packaging. The guide provides an overview of the intellectual property regimes in Australia as well as specific information in relation to trade marks, designs, copyright and patents insofar as they are relevant to the fashion and clothing industry.
