Some of the answers include:

Criminal liability would not be imposed on people who sing the lyrics to Happy Birthday in public (even if the song was still in copyright in Australia).

Recording yourself lip-synching a pop song and posting it on the internet may amount to an unauthorised copy of the sound recording but will not of itself constitute a criminal offence. However, a criminal offence and an on-the-spot fine may be imposed if the recording is posted for the purposes of trade.

You can record television or radio broadcast programs (including a program from pay-television) for viewing at another time (even outside of your home on a mobile device). However, you cannot give it away, sell or hire a recording or play it at school or work (this includes sharing ar ecording over the internet).

You can format-shift music that you own to your mp3 player, XBOX 360 or computer as well as copying a song you have purchased and downloaded to a CD or mp3 player.

You can use a DVD that you have bought overseas on a multi-zone DVD player.
