John Stonier – Davies Collison Cave

John Stonier at DCC consults in areas including development, negotiation and management of intellectual property and technology agreements. John Stonier commenced consulting to Davies Collison Cave in 1993.

John Stonier has been Chairman or Member of a number of Federal Government Committees, including the ALRC’s Advisory Committee on Genetics and IP Rights, the Panel of Experts on the Biotechnology CenterCentre of Excellence, the IP & Competition Review and the Industrial Property Advisory Committee.

At the University of Melbourne John Stonier is a Member (and was Chairman) of the Advisory Board for the Graduate Diploma of Intellectual Property Law, and he lectures in Licensing Law and Technology Transfer. John Stonier also lectures in Patent Law and Commercialisation at the Queensland University of Technology.

Previously, John Stonier was BHP’s Director Development and Investments, and his responsibilities included the Patents, Licensing and Venture Capital Departments for the BHP Group. Before then, John Stonier worked as a financial executive with WR Grace & Co in New York and as a lawyer in Melbourne.
