New Trade Marks Office practice to World and Land marks

Part 22 of the Trade Marks Manual has been revised to indicate an update in practice in relation to trade marks containing the words WORLD or LAND.

The words WORLD or LAND combined with a description or attribute of the designated goods or services may now generally be considered inherently capable of distinguishing, unless the WORLD or LAND marks form an expression commonly used to define a particular field of interest or activity that is related to the goods or services claimed in the application.
