This job calls for an experienced junior lawyer who can support Google’s operations and legal structure in SE Asia.

Reporting to the Head of Legal for South East Asia Pacific, you’ll play a vital role in our growing team by serving as a first point of contact in Australia for all legal matters in SE Asia. You are an Australian qualified lawyer who comes with professional experience in either in-house or private practice environments. Specifically, you should have experience which covers a range of commercial areas, with a focus on IP, Internet and media law.

Among your primary responsibilities will be to assist in the negotiation and drafting of content licensing, syndication and sales agreements, and to assist in the provision of legal advice on business issues, ranging from sales operations, online product launches and intellectual property issues. You’ll also help to manage and resolve disputes and handle legal complaints that have been escalated from user support. Your strong experience should mean you are able to simultaneously juggle various different issues, priorities and business teams, and be able to handle both big projects as well as numerous small matters.

Responsibilities:

* Draft, review and negotiate, with customers and strategic partners, a wide range of commercial agreements that facilitate Google’s business.
* Conduct legal reviews and provide legal support for the launch of online products in Asia Pacific.
* Advise and recommend courses of action to Asia Pacific management, Sales, Business Development and other company departments on legal issues, commercial transaction structures, risks and company policies and procedures.
* Provide education and guidance to internal teams and facilitate the design and implementation of legal support processes and procedures that will increase efficiency, conform with Google’s global operations and ensure legal compliance within Asia Pacific.

Requirements:

* Law degree with excellent academic credentials from a leading law school.
* Minimum of 1 years post admission experience in IP, Internet and media law.
* Demonstrated experience in general commercial law and intellectual property matters.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality.
* Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters.
* Australian qualified lawyer.

Director of Intellectual Property

Major, Lindsey & Africa has been exclusively engaged by SonoSite, Inc. to conduct this search for its newly created position of Director of Intellectual Property.

The Director of IP will be responsible for directing and executing the intellectual property strategy for the company. A combination of experience gained both in a law firm and the in-house environment is required.
Ability to communication effectively with engineers and business and legal professionals, internal and external to the company, including senior management. Ability to distill complexity with clarity and precision and act decisively.
Ability to develop effective working relationships in a collegial environment. Ability to be a team player and work collaboratively to obtain results.
Self-starter and assertive.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
