The future of the international IP system
Professor Gervais and Dr Heath will provide their insights into the conflicts occurring at World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and the stalemates that have resulted from these conflicts. The seminar will also highlight the attempts by developed countries to move ahead on IP reform in other fora (eg OECD and G08), with new instruments (eg ACTA) and processes (eg Patent Prosecution Highway)
Professor Daniel Gervais, Research Chair in IP and Osler Professor of Law, University of Ottawa. Professor Gervais is an international expert on TRIPS and the international IP system. He is the author of the renowned reference work on the TRIPS Agreement now in its 2nd edition, and the Editor of the Journal of World Intellectual Property.
Dr Ian Heath, Managing Consultant, First Thoughts. Dr Heath is a consultant to the G08’s work program on the future of the international IP system. He is the immediate past Director General of IP Australia
