Watermark - IP Australia streamlines Patent Examination

Karen Sinclair of Watermark reports that the Australian Federal Government has commenced consultations with stakeholders in the patent system with a view to significantly streamlining examination procedures at the Australian
Patent Office. Briefly, the Government seeks to abolish s45(3) of the Patents Act 1990 which requires patent applicants to provide prior art disclosure to the Patent Office.
